De’Aaron Fox’s disinterest in the Los Angeles Lakers is reportedly due to the organization’s reluctance to trade one star.
De’Aaron Fox has become one of the hottest commodities available to be acquired ahead of the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline.
The Sacramento Kings star is apparently done waiting for the organization to become competitive. Instead, he wants to join a team like the San Antonio Spurs.
However, another team that was initially featured in the Fox sweepstakes was none other than the Los Angeles Lakers.
At times, playing for the LA Lakers can be considered a double-edged sword due to the fanbase showing hostility toward even their best player after a string of poor games.
Keeping that in mind, playing for the Purple and Gold is not everyone’s cup of tea.
However, most believe that Fox could be a perfect fit for the Lakers alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis if the trade goes through.
Unfortunately, Fox doesn’t share the same sentiment, per senior NBA insider Shams Charania.
“With agent Rich Paul, we know, he’s got LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Lakers,” Charania said.
“But I’m told the Lakers are not part of that destination of choice for De’Aaron Fox potentially.”
According to Charania, the presence of LBJ and AD was enough to sway Fox away from the Lakers. But a new report has suggested an entirely different story.

Since D’Angelo Russell’s trade to the Brooklyn Nets, Austin Reaves has become a focal point in head coach JJ Redick’s tactics.
Evidently, the Lakers hold Reaves to a high accord and according to Jake Fischer on Stein Line, the Kings are adamant on wanting AR15 in any move involving Fox.
“Among the reasons why Lakers are not Fox’s preferred destination: Klutch has direction knowledge of many Lakers dealings, thanks to its representation of LeBron James and Anthony Davis,” Fischer stated.
He added: “Which means, Klutch knows, as sources tell The Stein Line, that the Lakers have zero intention of parting with Sacramento’s presumed top target in any Fox discussion: Austin Reaves.”
Reaves is averaging 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game for the Lakers. While Fox may average better numbers, AR has incredible synergy with the current core of the Lakers.
Keeping that in mind, it’s hard to see the Purple and Gold give that up, even for someone like Fox.
