2023 NBA champion with Denver Nuggets joins Turkish Basketball League team

Another former NBA player has signed a new deal with an overseas team.

Playing in the NBA is a dream come true for most basketball players around the globe. But since the NBA is the best basketball league in the world, there is cut-throat competition for roster spots.

In fact, even if a player ends up getting drafted or signing with an NBA team, there’s no guarantee about their future in the league.

With the rise of the likes of Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic in the NBA, many teams have tried their luck with overseas talent.

The Denver Nuggets did the same during the 2022-23 NBA season when they signed Jack White. While White won an NBA title with the Nuggets, he barely made an impact.

After all, he averaged just 1.2 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.2 assists per game for the Nuggets. Fast forward to 2025, and White has just signed a deal with Turkish side Mersin Basketball.

“Mersin Basketball continues its ambitious offseason with the signing of Australian forward Jack White, who won an NBA title with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

“The 28-year-old becomes the latest high-profile name to join the club’s growing project,” BasketNews reported.

While White’s most notable stint was with the Nuggets, the Australian forward also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, albeit for just four games during the 2023-24 season.

During that short tenure, White averaged 1.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game for the Grizzlies.

Aside from that, White has been a mainstay in the NBL while also representing Australia during the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

At 28 years old, White is entering the prime of his career, and it will be interesting to see if he can convince NBA teams to take him back.
