Watch: James Anderson almost suffers career-ending injury on golf course; old video resurfaces

James Anderson, the seasoned English cricketer, indulges in golfing sessions during the cricket off-season. James Anderson actively engages in this leisurely pursuit, rejuvenating himself before returning to competitive cricket for the upcoming Test matches during the English summer.

James Anderson was last seen in action during the five-match Test series against India. The right-arm pacer was the highest wicket-taker for England among pacers. He secured 10 wickets across four Test matches at a decent average of 33.35, with his best bowling figures being 3/47.

The 41-year-old bowler achieved his 700th wicket milestone during the fifth and final Test in Dharamshala. He stands as the third bowler and the first seamer to reach this historic milestone in Test cricket. He has taken 700 wickets in his illustrious 187-Test career at an average of 26.53.

An old video shared by England’s Barmy Army on X (formerly known as Twitter) depicts James Anderson hitting himself in the face while golfing. The post adds a lighthearted touch to Anderson’s off-season activities, providing fans with an amusing glimpse. Notably, the original clip is from the year 2018.

James Anderson Unlikely To Be Available For Lancashire

James Anderson is unlikely to be available for Lancashire until at least the end of May as he focuses on preparing for the English Test summer ahead.

James Anderson aims to be fully prepared for England’s upcoming Tests this summer, starting with the match against the West Indies at Lord’s on July 10. As a result, he expects to sit out the early matches of the 2024 Vitality County Championship, prioritizing his readiness for the Test series.

Anderson expressed the challenge of the Test schedule set for July, suggesting he might not play until June or late May. His remarks were made at The Oval during a government announcement regarding a £35 million investment in grassroots cricket.

“With the Tests being in July, it’s tricky. It’ll probably be June before I play, or maybe the end of May,” said Anderson.

Last year, Anderson’s frequent appearances were interrupted by a groin injury, impacting his Ashes performance. With Anderson’s reduced county commitments, the chance of him playing alongside Nathan Lyon has diminished as Cricket Australia has limited Lyon’s availability for Lancashire.

Anderson looks forward to possibly playing one or two games by late May or June.

“It was nice to actually have a civil conversation with him. I think he plays seven out of the first nine games, so hopefully I’ll play one or two, either at the end of May or in June,” added Anderson.

The experienced England seamer remains a crucial asset in their bowling lineup. Known for his ability to utilize the new ball effectively, he provides both wicket-taking opportunities and stability. With the upcoming home series in the summer, he aims to continue his impactful contributions.
