The Boston Celtics don’t need a whole lot of help after winning 64 games and capturing their 18th NBA championship, but like any other team, they could always use some reinforcements.
In a piece where Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz listed three top potential trade additions for each NBA team, he mentioned Chicago Bulls forward Torrey Craig for the Celtics.
Swartz notes that Craig has a very tradeable contract, as the veteran is slated to make a mere $2.8 million next season.
Craig played in 53 games for the Bulls during the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds over 19.8 minutes per game on 43.0/39.2/75.0 shooting splits.
The 33-year-old is well traveled, having played for five teams in his professional career.
Craig broke into the NBA with the Denver Nuggets as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent the first three years of his career with the Nuggets, establishing himself as a versatile defender.

While the USC Upstate product does not offer much in the way of offense, he has been able to develop into a solid three-point shooter, making over 39 percent of his triples the last two seasons.
Craig is a lifetime 35.5 percent shooter from beyond the arc.
The Celtics have stood pat this offseason, and understandably so.
Regardless of what the other teams in the league have done this summer, Boston remains the clear favorite to repeat as NBA champions next June, and the Celtics may not want to tinker with their roster as a result.
Boston boasts the most loaded starting lineup in the league and also has considerable depth off the bench.

That being said, the Celtics may still consider bolstering their squad midseason, and a player like Craig may represent a perfect candidate.
Chances are, Boston isn’t going to make any major moves. It doesn’t need to. But adding someone like Craig into a stable of already incredibly versatile defenders would make the Boston Celtics that much more dangerous.
