What JJ Redick said about Anthony Davis’ eye injury vs. Raptors

The Los Angeles Lakers improved their record but at the expense of Anthony Davis suffering another injury.

Anthony Davis‘ fitness has been a recurring concern for the Los Angeles Lakers each year since his arrival. However, the former No. 1 overall pick has managed to remain relatively healthy this season.

As a result, Davis is already receiving MVP recognition. Davis continued his terrific form vs. the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately, the Lakers big man was forced to exit the game early following a clash with Jakob Poeltl.

Despite AD leaving the game after just 26 minutes, the Lakers managed to attain a blowout 123-103 vs. the Raptors. After the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick was asked about an update on the big man’s concerning eye injury.

“I just know that he got poked in it,” Redick said, via Mark Medina on X. “He was having trouble seeing. After trauma to the eye, it takes a little time to get your clear vision back. Other than that, no update.”

As Redick revealed, there is no set timeline for Davis to return. Fortunately, the injury is not that serious, albeit Davis is facing trouble seeing.

The Lakers have a couple of days of rest before facing the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Cup opener. Hopefully, AD will be back at full strength before the important game.

On one hand, Davis is flat-out dominating teams. He is averaging 32.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for the Purple and Gold. On the other hand, a 39-year-old LeBron James is defying all odds this season.

Despite being the oldest player in the league, the King is averaging 23.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. The 4x NBA champion has seemingly taken a backseat in terms of scoring. However, he is impacting the game with his playmaking skills.

Moreover, James registered his back-to-back triple-doubles vs. the Philadelphia 76ers and Raptors. Thanks to James’ all-around game combined with Davis’ sheer dominance, the Lakers are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 6-4 record.
