NBA fans go off on Kawhi Leonard as LA Clippers star already ruled out of major accolades, ‘he needs to retire’

Kawhi Leonard has missed nearly 20 games to start the 2024-25 NBA season.

When the Los Angeles Clippers lost Paul George this past summer, they were handed a huge setback as he had been a crucial member of the franchise for five seasons.

However, fans were still optimistic about their team’s chances in the postseason due to the presence of Kawhi Leonard and James Harden on the roster.

While Harden is carrying the team, Leonard is yet to play a game in the new season.

When it comes to sheer basketball skills, Leonard has proven his worth multiple times. After all, he has won two difficult NBA Championships in his career.

Unfortunately, the Klaw’s career has been riddled with a plethora of injuries, especially during his stint with the LA Clippers.

Last season, Leonard played more than 68 games for the first time during his Clippers tenure, but it ended up doing more harm than good for the franchise in the long run.

The 2x NBA Finals MVP picked up a knee injury during the playoffs, leading to him being sidelined during the 2024 Paris Olympics and the preseason.

He was ruled out indefinitely at the start of the season and has already missed 18 games, which means that the 33-year-old will not win any regular season accolades.

The NBA now requires players to play in at least 65 games during the regular season to qualify for winning any end-of-season accolades.

With Leonard already missing 18 games, he has failed to qualify for the requirement. After all, even if he returns and plays all the remaining games of the season, he can only take his tally up to 64 games.

Evidently, NBA fans didn’t let this opportunity to take a dig at the 6x NBA All-Star go to waste.

One fan stated: “He wasn’t winning one anyway lol.”

While another boldly suggested: “He needs to retire.”

Another fan resonated with the same thoughts: “At some point, Kawhi is going to have to ask himself if continuing to play is worth reducing his quality of life after his career is over.”

One fan questioned Leonard’s intentions: “Why does bro even play basketball anymore?”

Fans also made jokes about him.

“They should make a “Most Well Rested Player” award just for him.

“Kawhi clocked in just enough to keep his PTO hours. Respect.”

All things considered, fans are unhappy over Leonard’s inability to play basketball consistently. To be honest, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Clippers star decides to hang up his sneakers once his current contract with the team ends.
