Draymond Green questions ‘above the law’ NBA refs’ authority, reveals what he said leading to flagrant foul

Draymond Green was bewildered after being handed a flagrant foul vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Golden State Warriors added to their momentum following a solid win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Andrew Wiggins made headlines in the 121-113 win in Stephen Curry’s absence for the Warriors with a 24-point night.

However, another major storyline from the game was Draymond Green’s physical altercation with Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey.

Right at the start of the fourth quarter, with the Warriors holding a four-point lead over the Grizzlies, Jake LaRavia missed a close-range shot.

After the miss, Edey was present in the paint in hopes of getting an offensive rebound and scoring points for his team. However, Edey was met with Green and things escalated in a matter of a few seconds.

While Green failed to stop Edey from getting the board, he did make hard contact with the rookie. The referees deemed the contact as unnecessary and the Warriors veteran was slammed with a flagrant 1 foul.

Many thought that Green deserved to receive the foul call considering the unnecessary contact with Edey on the play.

Over the years, the Warriors forward has built a reputation for being extra physical on the hardwood. As a result, the officials rarely think twice before slamming Green with a foul.

However, following his altercation with Edey, the 4x NBA champ also picked up a technical foul at the 10:51 mark and expressed his anger at the refs during the postgame interview.

“No! But it’s Draymond Green, that’s why it’s a flagrant foul. It’s funny you know it’s ironic I said, ‘JK clean elbow to the head, boom!’ I said, ‘Wow that’s a review?’ I said, ‘If I blow on someone y’all [are] reviewing,’” Green told Anthony Slater on X.

He added: “I got a tech for saying boom. I say boom every time I make a three. I got a tech for saying boom. When did they become so above the law that you can’t say boom?!”

Green was visibly furious during the interview and didn’t mince his words at all. Keeping the interview in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he gets slammed with a fine by the NBA.
