Antony set for Betis loan

According to multiple sources, Manchester United’s Antony is close to joining Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the season.

Both clubs, as well as the player himself, believe he has played his last game in a United shirt this season when Ruben Amorim’s team suffered a shocking 1-3 defeat at home against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday. Antony came on as a substitute for the final six minutes, replacing Noussair Mazraoui as Amorim sought in vain to strengthen his attack towards the end.

United paid close to €100 million to sign Antony from Ajax in 2022, but he has largely failed to justify such an investment. He did not start a single Premier League game this season, neither under Amorim nor previously under Erik ten Hag. He made only eight appearances in the English top flight, all off the bench. His only goal contribution in any competition in 2024/25 was a goal he scored in the 7-0 rout of Barnsley in the third round of the FA Cup.
