NBA insider makes Jimmy Butler to Washington Wizards trade comment, ‘not a bad move’

After all of what happened, there hasn’t been any significant progress yet regarding the break up between Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat.

Last December, the Miami Heat announced interest in hearing offers for Jimmy Butler, but a trade unfortunately hasn’t occurred yet. And even though Butler himself already expressed his desire to leave the franchise, no deal remains imminent right now.

Despite all of the drama that occurred from Butler’s postgame ranting and the subsequent suspension imposed by the Heat, both sides are yet to call it quits and finally end their conflict that has been at the center of the league intrigue this 2024-25 season.

In the midst of a lack of progress in his looming basketball divorce with the Heat, Butler remains steadfast in his desire to get traded in which the Phoenix Suns are his rumored desired destination.

Per reports, Butler has been convinced to join the Suns not just to compete with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but also to secure that ideal contract he failed to get from Miami.

But it all truly comes down on when the Heat will pull the trigger out of Pat Riley’s command. And Miami won’t make a move unless it will give them the best return they can get from Butler. Besides, trading with Suns couldn’t be more complicated for them unless they take the massive contract of Bradley Beal.

There are several considerable teams that could make sense for the Heat in pulling a Butler trade. And out of this, an NBA insider is intrigued about the chances of the Washington Wizards.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints offered his take about how the Wizards could be a landing spot for Butler from the Heat.

Washington being the eventual landing spot of Butler will be the biggest plot twist of all this saga. It’ll be interesting to see how Butler would react as this move could be made out of Pat Riley’s disregard for the disgruntled star’s wishes.

Yet, this one only allows the Heat to win over the Wizards. Washington will be compelled to give up their several top assets — mainly Kyle Kuzma — for this to work out. While Miami will tremendously benefit by acquiring the forward and several other salary-matching pieces for contention, Washington would be burdened on what they would do to Butler and his infamous antics.

Regardless if Butler picks up his player option for next season or not, the Wizards won’t gain any benefit from acquiring the future Hall of Famer.

There could be any other teams which may give it a shot in gaining Butler’s service. For now, the wait continues on how the Heat will continue to handle the situation as the forward is slated to return now following his second team suspension.
