A new blockbuster deal emerges within the NBA.
Following the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis mega deal, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN that the Sacramento Kings have engaged with the San Antonio Spurs and the Chicago Bulls on a three-team major transaction.
The Kings will send De’Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin to the San Antonio Spurs.
On the other hand, they obtain Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), and three second-round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back).
The Bulls, meanwhile, get Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS.
Fox has obtained his ambition of playing alongside Victor Wembanyama. Ever since the star point guard was made available by the Kings for a trade, multiple reports indicated that San Antonio is his desired destination.
The 27-year-old decided against inking an extension with the franchise last offseason, seeking a much more competitive playing field for himself, which he candidly explained.
Meanwhile, LaVine, subject of trade speculation all season long, finds himself landing in an unprecedented reunion with DeMar DeRozan in Sacramento. The two star swingmen shared the court in the past three years in Chicago.
No other Kings player feels more bittersweet about Fox’s official departure from Sacramento than Malik Monk
Monk cited Fox as one of his main reasons for joining the Kings in 2022. The duo holds a strong connection both on and off the court as they were former college teammates as well in Kentucky.
In an Instagram story minutes after the deal was announced, Monk posted an Instagram story that shows a picture of him and Fox.
On the flip side, DeRozan is simply thrilled to reconnect with LaVine and identify his former Bulls co-star as an ally once again.
And that can be seen when DeRozan himself published an IG story of his own with a song ‘Reunited’ by Peaches & Herb.
In the end, the three involved teams can finally move forward attaining their wishes. The Spurs finally provides Wembanyama that ideal co-star and floor general in Fox, the Kings are set to continue their contention plans with LaVine.
While the Bulls are now moving forward to further begin their long-term rebuilding project.
