The Phoenix Suns are likely to be busy before the end of the trade deadline on February 6, and it appears almost every star bar Devin Booker is available.
Despite a slight upturn in form following the benching of Bradley Beal and the complete absence of Jusuf Nurkic, the team has lost their last two games.
While boasting the talents of Booker, who recently made Suns’ history, Beal and Durant the super team attempt has far from succeeded.
And it now appears that owner Matt Ishbia is ready to break up his side with Durant being closely linked with an exit.
The star quality of two-time NBA Champion Durant is unquestionable but his time with the Suns may be coming to an end.
Despite averaging 26-6-4 the Suns have been urged to decide on the future of Durant, it now appears one is getting closer. Durant has been with the Suns since 2023 and they have yet to make it past the Conference Semifinals during his time with the team.
With the Suns currently struggling to secure a solid playoff chance this year it looks like the team is ready to roll the dice and Durant could be a major player.
Both Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams believe Durant should join one of his former sides, yet they disagree on the location.
Durant has been heavily linked with a return to the Warriors where he won his two NBA Championships and Lou Williams supports the move, telling Fan Duel’s Run It Back: “If he’s gonna go anywhere I love the idea of a Golden State reunion. It makes sense, you may unload one of your young guys. That would be a scenario that I could see working.”
While a return to a successful stomping ground in the Warriors would certainly be exciting, and most importantly add a major piece to help Steph Curry, Parsons disagrees with Williams on Durant’s ideal next location.
Parsons believes KD would be better off at several other sides including his former Oklahoma City Thunder, a team that Durant recently revealed why he left.
Durant spent eight seasons with the Thunder, where in the 2013-14 season he averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
Parsons said: “OKC that would be fun, I’m not sure who they would give up. San Antonio would be another one, do they get off a Keldon Johnson or get off one of those other core guys to bring in a Kevin Durant?
“Houston, they have the pieces, they have the depth and a lot of assets that other teams would want.”
It remains to be seen where Durant will end up come trade deadline but his exit would likely open the door for a Jimmy Butler exit from the Miami Heat.
