Dallas Mavericks reach out for ‘trade modification’ on star after injury issues show up on physical, fans react angrily

The Dallas Mavericks activity is under the spotlight amid a backlash from fans, and analysts.

Nico Harrison is the most notorious general manager in basketball right now after his brave decision to trade away Luka Doncic.

While Byron Scott believes the Dallas Mavericks are in a stronger position with Anthony Davis and Max Christie, letting go of superstar Luka Doncic has prompted an angry and upset reaction from the fanbase.

And it was not the only move the Mavs made, agreeing a deal with the 76ers to exchange Caleb Martin and Quentin Grimes.

The Mavericks trade to bring in Caleb Martin shares something in common with new superstar Anthony Davis, both arrived with the team carrying an injury.

And while Davis is set to shake off his abdominal problem to make his Mavs debut imminently, Caleb Martin will take a little longer to make his presence felt on the court.

And the Mavs are so unhappy with Caleb Martin’s injury, they have reached out to the 76ers to make a ‘modification’ on the trade, which is currently unspecified.

He also added the Mavs had the chance to void the trade, and decided to push ahead with it.

The update comes via Marc Stein, who reports: “A specific timetable for Caleb Martin’s Mavericks debut has not yet been established.

“League sources say Dallas does not have long-term concern about the right hip sprain that has sidelined Martin but a modification to the original trade was sought after the ex-Sixer’s physical.

“The Mavericks had the option to void the Caleb Martin trade, sources tell @TheSteinLine, but believe Martin can recover in a matter of weeks and went ahead with the deal with Philadelphia agreed to put in the future second-round pick.”

Dallas fans are not happy with the news, especially with an anger already building towards Nico Harrison due to the Doncic trade.

One fan mocked Harrison’s press conference comments, writing: “Nico is definitely in WIN NOW mode trading for a injured player!”

Another added: “Nico is just embarrassing. “Win now” and he trades for injured and worse players.”

“Fire Nico. Sell the team,” blasted another, while a fourth added: “Goddamn it man. Why Dallas why.”

Another fan asked: “Grimes was available to play and we desperately need to win so why did Nico trade him for a guy that can’t help us win games?”

By the end of the season, Harrison’s moves might all make sense. But with a shaky 26-25 record in a very competitive Western Conference, Dallas need to start stacking the wins together to get a strong playoff path, or to make it there at all.
