Shamil Erdogan needed just 28 seconds to send former two-division champion Aung La N Sang packing with a brutal head kick knockout at ONE 171 from Qatar on Thursday.
The undefeated Russian was actually running it back with Aung La N Sang after he scored a second round ground and pound finish in their first encounter back in September 2024. This time around, Erdogan didn’t even need the second round after Aung La N Sang came out aggressive to start the fight.
Erdogan avoided any early strikes coming from the former ONE champion as he looked to set up his own combinations. That’s when Erdogan saw the opening to unleash a head kick that bounced off Aung La N Sang’s head and he immediately crashed to the canvas.
The referee rushed in to stop the fight with Aung La N Sang clearly down and out with the bout ending at just 28 seconds into the opening round.
Following the conclusion of the fight, Aung La N Sang, a 45 fight veteran and stalwart at Kill Cliff FC where he trains alongside notable names like Gilbert Burns, Michael Chandler and Vicente Luque, took off his gloves to potentially signify that he’s retiring from the sport.
If this is the end, Aung La N Sang would retire with a 30-15 record overall including title reigns at middleweight and light heavyweight in ONE Championship.
As for Erdogan, he asked for a title shot following his latest win as he continues to make waves since joining the promotion.
