Jiu-jitsu was the name of the game at UFC London, at least for Saturday’s four bonus winners.
Sean Brady, Alexia Thainara, Shauna Bannon, and Kevin Holland all earned $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses for their spectacular wins at UFC London.
No Fight of the Night award was given out, resulting in four single bonuses instead.
Brady capped off the evening with an incredible finish of former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, becoming the first fighter to ever put Edwards away inside the distance. It was a statement victory for Brady, who looks the part of a No. 1 contender at 170 pounds after recording his third straight win.
Thainara and Bannon also scored submission victories, with the debuting Thainara using her dangerous ground skills to choke out veteran Molly McCann (and send her into retirement) and Bannon recovering from a head kick knockdown to catch Puja Tomar with a slick armbar.
In a rare instance of a Performance of the Night bonus going to a fighter who didn’t win by knockout or submission, Holland added to his bonus collection with a commanding decision win against Gunnar Nelson. Holland showed he could match Nelson hold-for-hold on the mat as he out-grappled Nelson en route to an exciting unanimous decision win.
This is the eight time Holland has won Performance of the Night.
