‘I loved it’… Austin Reaves says LeBron James did something he he has not done ‘in a while’ in LA Lakers win

The LA Lakers secured a brilliant 134-127 win against the Memphis Grizzlies in a key matchup that could determine the Western Conference standings.

Austin Reaves led the scorers with 31 points, while also contributing with seven rebounds and eight assists on the night.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic, who has attracted criticism recently also showed out, combining for 54 points and 17 assists to help the team grab a crucial win against the Grizzlies.

The LA Lakers ended the first quarter with a 11 point lead, but they let the Grizzlies come back into the game by the second half and had to get things right to seal the win on the road.

Reaves who has been brilliant all season for the Lakers had another big night, but he has given flowers to the Lakers star duo for his recent run of form.

The 26-year-old stated the presence of James and Luka Doncic makes things ‘easy’ for him.

Reaves has been averaging 26.9 PPG, while shooting an efficient 53.4% from the field in his last ten games.

Speaking about the duo in his post-game press conference, Reaves said: “Bron and Luka are so good that they make my life easy.

“Unselfish players, they like to play the game the right way, unbelievable passers both of them, so you try to get the best just every possession.

“If we lock into doing that, I feel like we can get a good shot every possession.”

James, Doncic and Reaves combined for 85 of the Lakers’ 134 points, which indicates how good the team can be when the trio plays well.

The game against the Memphis Grizzlies was a must-win for the Lakers as it could have major implications in the standings if the two team’s finish with a similar record.

The Purple and Gold also have developed a rivalry against the Grizzlies in the past few seasons, which is why matchups between the two team’s are always fiery.

At one of the timeouts in the game, James started to express himself a little more loudly, which proved to help the team as they came out with a win.

“First time I’ve heard him yell in a while, it was refreshing to be honest, I loved it.

“I don’t remember what he said, it just shows you how much he cares.

“His attention to detail is probably the standard and if all us lock in to that every single possession you can create something special,” said Reaves.
