Luka Doncic’s appearance at Real Madrid stirred up NBA fans, but in a good way.
Despite Luka Doncic getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the middle of the regular season, fans expected him to feel at home right off the bat.
Evidently, Doncic took some time before showing signs of his true form in the iconic Purple and Gold jersey. He played 28 regular-season games, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.
These are excellent numbers considering the emotional turmoil Doncic had to go through since getting traded. However, due to the LA Lakers’ first-round exit, many called out Luka for his physique.
Every offseason, Doncic’s fitness becomes a major topic of discussion in the NBA community. Even though Doncic is no longer a member of the Mavs, the trend has continued.
Many have shared their opinions on what to expect from Doncic after a long offseason, primarily around his fitness. Well, the 5x NBA All-Star’s recent appearance at a Real Madrid game answered that question.
After seeing the picture, NBA fans are oozing with excitement at seeing a slimmer version of the Lakers superstar.
“Wow! Good job Luka. Keep it up. Rooting for you always,” a fan said. While another added: “GOAT is in shape.”
“WTF we winning it all next year,” an excited fan reacted.
“Bravo Luka, looking fit,” one fan praised.
A fan announced: “He looks like he’s been in the gym. The league is in big trouble.”
The common theme after seeing the picture was about Doncic looking in much better shape than when fans last saw him during the Lakers’ 2025 postseason run.
The 2025-26 NBA season will be Doncic’s first full year with the Lakers. Considering he has a full offseason to train, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Luka plays the best basketball of his career next season.
The Lakers superstar has seemingly taken the first step towards it, according to a Slovenian sports outlet (h/t Sports Illustrated).
“In the first phase of the long period between the seasons, Doncic, now without basketball, dedicated himself to transforming his body in Ljubljana, which includes both guided indoor conditioning and a modified diet.
“The first physical results are already very clearly visible, and the measurement results are also encouraging,” the report revealed.
While there is a visible difference in Doncic’s physique, the true test of his transformation would be on the hardwood when the new season begins.
