Anthony Edwards snaps back at critics calling out his poor Game 4 performance, ‘Didn’t really struggle…’

A defiant Anthony Edwards refused to admit he had a bad performance in Game 4.

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost a heartbreaker to the Oklahoma City Thunder at home. The Thunder now have a commanding 3-1 lead and are one win away from the NBA Finals.

Anthony Edwards had a particularly poor night, scoring just 16 points on poor efficiency. The hunger Edwards praised after Game 3 was nowhere to be seen in Game 4.

It’s a shame the Timberwolves wasted their tone-setting Game 3 performance with yet another disaster class, despite the scoreline suggesting things were close.

But if you ask Anthony Edwards, he says that he had a great performance and didn’t struggle at all when it came to making shots.

Speaking after the Timberwolves’ Game 4 loss, Anthony Edwards spoke about his performance for his side.

The reporter used the word ‘struggle’ when describing Ant’s performance. The All-Star immediately intervened to shut down that narrative.

“I don’t look at it like I struggled or he [Randle] struggled. They had a good game plan, making us get off the ball. Especially for me, it was super intense.”

“I made the right play all night, so I don’t really look at it like I struggled. I didn’t get enough shots to say I struggled. I didn’t struggle at all, I made the right play.”

Given how he has played the last few years and the strides he has made, it’s easy to forget that Edwards is just 23 years old.

Moments like these, where he displays a lack of maturity, are a reminder that he still has a long way to go, not just as an athlete, but when it comes to his mentality.

As the leader of the Timberwolves, Edwards is responsible for their successes, but also their failures. He cannot shirk criticism when he plays poorly.

Perhaps Edwards was just being defensive given the high-stakes situation the Timberwolves are in. But he needs to be better.
