India A recently faced the England Lions in the second unofficial Test at Northampton. KL Rahul, who joined the India A side before the match, impressed with scores of 116 and 51 in the two innings.
The match ended in a draw, but there were encouraging signs for the touring side. Notably, Karun Nair scored a double-century (204 off 281 balls), boosting his case for selection in the main squad.
India are aiming for their first Test series win in England since 2007. During their last campaign there, in 2021/22, the series ended in a 2-2 draw.

“Break – Only 4 players from India A are here with the Main India squad – Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Kumar, Harshit Rana, Manav Sutar,” Rohit Juglan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Anshul Kamboj’s Impressive Performances for India A
Anshul Kamboj delivered an impressive all-round performance for India A in the second match. He took two wickets for 56 runs in 18 overs during the first innings and followed it up with two wickets for just six runs in three overs in the second. He also scored 51 runs off 86 balls, including five fours and a six.
There is a chance he could be called up if a fast bowler gets injured during the five-match Test series against England. Injuries to pacers could open the door for his inclusion.
Anshul is yet to make his debut for India but has been consistent in domestic cricket and the IPL. He has taken 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches and has 10 wickets from 11 IPL games. He played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). A call-up to the national side may be just around the corner.
