Denver Nuggets player backs Michael Malone for New York Knicks job, ‘What those guys need…’

The New York Knicks remain without a head coach following Tom Thibodeau’s dismissal.

Time is running short with the NBA Draft approaching. Several high-profile candidates have been approached by the organization, including Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, and Chris Finch.

However, recent reports indicate that all teams controlling these coaches have rejected New York’s advances.

With the coaching search stalling, Denver Nuggets center DeAndre Jordan has proposed an intriguing solution: hire his former head coach, Michael Malone.

“I think Mo getting another job is definitely something that is going to happen if he wants it to happen, in my opinion, and it just kind of like would make sense being up there from New York area,” Jordan said.

Malone remains available after being fired by the Nuggets just before the postseason. His proven track record and championship experience make him an attractive candidate according to Jordan.

“That swagger, that competitive nature that he has, paired up with those guys could be could be a really good situation. I think he’s a breath of fresh air at times. And I guess that’s what those guys need right there right now at the moment,” Jordan explained.

Jordan believes Malone’s championship credentials make him the ideal fit for New York’s roster construction.

“He’s proven he can win a championship, especially with good players in the system, KAT and Jalen and Mikal, and Josh, he loves players like Josh Hart, like those kind of Bruce Brown-ish kind of guys,” Jordan added.

“I think they could really do something, especially with him being probably, in my opinion, the best coach out there that they could actually hire,” Jordan concluded.

Malone brings championship experience from his 2023 title with Denver and has guided the Nuggets to seven consecutive playoff appearances.

His ability to manage star players like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Russell Westbrook suggests he could handle New York’s talented roster featuring Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Knicks need to act quickly to secure their next head coach and begin preparing for the upcoming season. Malone’s availability and proven success make him a compelling option worth serious consideration.
