In a major development, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has granted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the talented top-order batsman Prithvi Shaw to represent another state team in domestic cricket.
Prithvi Shaw is not the only player leaving Mumbai, as two more players – Armaan Jaffer and Siddhant Adatrao – have informed the MCA about their desire to play for another state team.

Prithvi Shaw leaves Mumbai for further growth and development
The 25-year-old Shaw, who was regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket, has seen a massive downfall in his career, and currently, he is struggling a lot.
Last year, he faced a massive setback when the Mumbai selectors dropped him from the Ranji Trophy squad due to poor fitness and urged him to follow a fitness programme to get back in shape.
Shaw last played for Mumbai in December 2024 in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and he hasn’t played List A cricket in India since the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
After facing continuous snubs at Mumbai due to no improvements in his fitness, Prithiv Shaw was approached by two to three states earlier this month to join their squad, reported the Indian Express.
This prompted Shaw to make a bold call to leave Mumbai. He wrote an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association in which he mentioned that representing Mumbai was an honor and a privilege for him, but he wanted to join another professional team to further grow and develop himself as a cricketer.
MCA grants NOC to Shaw after due consideration
The Mumbai Cricket Association was quick to officially react after Shaw sent the email. In an official statement released on Monday, June 23, MCA stated that they have granted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Prithvi Shaw after due consideration.
“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would like to inform that cricketer Prithvi Shaw had formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to represent another state as a professional player in the upcoming domestic season. After due consideration, the MCA has granted the NOC,” the MCA said in a statement.
