The San Antonio Spurs are determined to build around Victor Wembanyama.
It was one of many mini-tragedies of the NBA season that Victor Wembanyama’s sophomore campaign was cut short after the All-Star break.
Victor Wembanyama is expected to be fully cleared for the 2025-26 season, and the San Antonio Spurs are determined to grow around him.
In addition to owning the number two overall pick in the NBA Draft, the Spurs are looking to free agency.
The San Antonio Spurs are looking at adding Guerschon Yabusele in free agency, reports HoopsHype.
The Spurs are claimed to be one of ‘several teams’ interested in Yabusele, but the only new suitor cited in the report.
The Philadelphia 76ers are also interested in bringing Yabusele back, but clearly face strong competition and fear losing him now he is an unrestricted free agent.
After two forgettable years with the Boston Celtics between 2017 and 2019, Yabusele left the US, returning with the Sixers last season.
He was a success story amid their troubled season, playing in 70 games, 43 as a starter, averaging 11.0 points with a 50.1 field goal percentage.
Yabusele could be tempted to link up with the Spurs and reunite with his France international teammate Victor Wembanyama.
The two starred at the Olympics together, where Yabusele was the team’s second highest leading scorer behind Wembanyama.
Speaking during the competition, Wembanyama expressed how happy he was to play alongside his teammate.
“I always try to help my team in whatever is needed and I’m ready to make any sacrifice… My teammates did a great job, you know, taking their responsibilities.
“Isaia (Cordinier), Guerschon (Yabusele), Mathias (Lessort), they were incredible for the whole elimination phase. This is what we thrive with.”
