Patrick Baldwin Jr makes stark Golden State Warriors admission after LA Clippers’ Summer League impact

Patrick Baldwin is looking to spark his career with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Former Golden State Warriors draft pick Patrick Baldwin Jr signed with the LA Clippers after the trade deadline, following being waived by the San Antonio Spurs.

He had previously been with the Washington Wizards, where he was sent by the Warriors as part of the Jordan Poole trade in 2023.

After signing a two-way deal with the Clippers, Baldwin Jr only played in two games for them and did not feature in the playoffs.

Now he is getting a chance to show what he can do in Summer League.

Patrick Baldwin Jr was one of the stars of the show as the LA Clippers recorded a 106-91 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Baldwin Jr scored 22 points and contributed 13 rebounds. He logged 50-40-100 shooting percentages along the way.

He was the highest scoring player on the court, edging out teammates Jordan Miller and Cam Christie, who each scored 21 points.

Speaking postgame to Joey Linn, Patrick Baldwin Jr admitted he has been working hard to add mental strength to his game, which he previously lacked.

Baldwin Jr says he has added an ‘edge’ that he simply did not have when he was drafted to the Golden State Warriors with the 28th overall pick.

He explained: “I think that’s what great individual players have. They have something that gets them up in the morning and makes them lace it up extra tight.

“Winning teams have that. It can be developed. I’m not gonna sit here and say five years ago I had an edge to my game.

“It’s something I’ve worked on. It’s something I’ve seen winning teams have. You can add mental parts to your game just like you can add physical parts.”

Baldwin Jr has had to deal with knockbacks and adversity during his NBA career so far, traded away and having to settle for a two-way contract last year.

Now trying to showcase his credentials in Summer League, Baldwin Jr is still only 22-years-old, with a mental edge he says he lacked at the start of his career.

He has so far been unable to show the Warriors that they were wrong to give up on him so early in his career, but with an extra mental edge and added motivation, he might just have a chance.
