The LA Lakers might have unlocked the best version of Luka Doncic, as the point guard is in the best shape he has been since his rookie season.
Luka Doncic is now on the Los Angeles Lakers and is looking to make a home with the team. After the Mavericks shockingly traded Doncic to the Lakers, fans wondered where his heart truly lay.
Since his arrival, the Lakers have made Luka Doncic their top priority, seeing the young star as the future of their franchise for years to come.
And even though Doncic hasn’t re-signed with the Lakers yet, his activity this offseason shows otherwise.
Doncic helped recruit Marcus Smart to the Lakers. He has invested a lot of his time in making sure the Lakers have a better team next season.
Tim MacMahon said Doncic helping recruit players to the Lakers is a sign that he plans on staying with them. And if his latest video is anything to go by, the Lakers might be getting the best version of him.
Luka Doncic was spotted training back in Slovenia recently. In the video, where he made an impressive half-court shot, Doncic looked incredibly lean, much slimmer than just a few months ago when he was on the court with the Lakers.
Lakers fans noticed this and reacted immediately. One fan warned the rest of the NBA, “It’s over for the league.”
While another fan praised his physique, saying, “He looks so fit!”
One fan expects Luka Doncic to take off next season, claiming, “Big year incoming!”
While another fan said the Lakers were ready to compete, noting, “Lakers need one more 3&D guy and we can give title to Lakers already!”
A Lakers fan was in awe of his hard work, writing, “He looks like a whole different human being!”
While one skeptical fan warned not to get too excited, saying, “I would wait and see, maintaining fitness after the EuroBasket will be harder than getting it now.”
After a rocky start to the offseason, the LA Lakers made some serious moves to address their weaknesses.
The Lakers wouldn’t have liked losing Dorian Finney-Smith. But they more than made up for it in the weeks that followed.
The Lakers signed Jake LaRavia and Deandre Ayton, two players who give them the size, rim protection, defense, and three-point shooting they desperately needed.
The addition of Marcus Smart also gives them the strong perimeter defender they needed. If the Lakers’ new signings can play to their potential, then they have a legitimate shot at competing for a title.
However, in a stacked Western Conference, the Lakers still struggle to measure up against some of the other strong teams.
