‘To see him…’ Stephen Curry saw Bronny James’ NBA success coming at just ‘3-4 years old’

Stephen Curry knew Bronny James would reach the NBA when he first saw him as a toddler.

Bronny James had a huge mountain to climb when he first arrived in the NBA. The #54 pick for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny faced a lot of scrutiny when he first entered the league.

As the son of LeBron James, many expected Bronny to be a superstar-level player. But he just wasn’t at that level when he came into the league.

However, he has shown a lot of improvement, especially towards the end of the season. And as he enters the new season, Bronny James has some lofty goals with the Lakers.

So far, it looks like he is on pace to meet those goals. Bronny James was phenomenal at the NBA Summer League.

In fact, Bronny made Cooper Flagg’s Summer League debut very difficult for the #1 overall pick. As surprising as it is to see his growth, Stephen Curry always knew he would be at this stage.

Stephen Curry spoke in an interview with Complex recently. When talking about Bronny James, he recalled his first time seeing the young kid at an NBA game.

Despite being just 3-4 years old, Bronny James showed off his speed and athleticism, running up and down the court while playing around.

“I remember how athletic Bronny looked that night, couldn’t have been more than three or four. And how fast he ran across the court, I’m like, ‘He’s going somewhere.’ And now to see him in the league is crazy.”

Curry must have seen him for the first time while playing against the Cavaliers, as LeBron James brought his family to the games frequently.

While it’s unlikely that anyone, let alone Bronny James, knew about his future goals, Curry saw something in him that night.

Bronny James has shown signs of being a strong defensive guard in the future with his play. Dwyane Wade praised Bronny’s defensive potential.

But the stark improvement from his performances at the Summer League last year compared to now is quite stark.

Bronny admitted he is improving due to the game slowing down. Clearly, with more experience, James is becoming more comfortable on the court.

Wherever he goes, he faces a massive amount of media scrutiny. But the young star has shown a lot of composure when dealing with this pressure.

Hopefully, as time goes on, James can achieve his potential as the years go on.
