Who did Luka Doncic scorch with 24-pt practice session? Dallas Mavericks VP corroborated Kyrie Irving’s story

Luka Doncic did indeed torch a Dallas Mavericks player in practice, just like Kyrie Irving said a few days ago.

Luka Doncic is perhaps the most dangerous offensive player in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers guard can, on his best day, put on an offensive masterclass.

Doncic has ousted LeBron James as the face of the Lakers, such is the magnitude of his immense scoring talent.

But before he was lighting it up for the Lakers, he was putting on scintillating performances for the Dallas Mavericks. He’d approach every game with the Mavericks with the same scoring intensity.

But Doncic also had the same aggression at training sessions. Kyrie Irving revealed how Doncic obliterated a Mavericks teammate during a practice.

Fans speculated about the identity of the player. Well, according to Dallas Mavericks assistant GM Michael Finley, fans were correct about their speculation.

Several fans heard Kyrie Irving’s story about Luka Doncic going at it with a teammate at practice, and presumed he was talking about Grant Williams.

Well, in an older interview, Dallas Mavericks assistant GM and VP of player personnel, Michael Finley, confirmed this story, explaining how Luka Doncic thrashed Williams.

“So one day in practice. A player on our team, I won’t call his name out, but it was Grant Williams, who decided he wanted to get under Luka’s skin. He thought Luka didn’t come that day, ready to practice.

“To make a long story short, we had a scrimmage going, and he’s talking trash to Luka up and down the court.

“So finally, Luka says, ‘Okay.’ And I tell you, Luka went on a 26-6 run by himself. You can ask anybody. I’m not exaggerating.”

Given the nature of this story, it’s still hard to fathom that the Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers.

With all due respect to Anthony Davis, who is an amazing player, how can any team look at the offensive juggernaut that Doncic was turning into and decide to move on from him?

Despite all the turmoil and controversy, Nico Harrison walked away relatively unscathed. The Mavericks landed Cooper Flagg in the NBA Draft, thus securing their next franchise star.

Even though he didn’t agree with the move, former Mavericks owner Mark Cuban backed Nico Harrison as GM.

Now on the Lakers, Luka Doncic will bring his excellent offensive performances to Tinsel Town, and try to win a championship with them.
