According to various sources, Newcastle have submitted the first official offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
The offer is believed to amount to around €75million in total, but it doesn’t quite meet Leipzig’s demands – the Bundesliga side want a sell-on clause embedded in any deal for the services of the Slovenia international.
Newcastle’s interest in Sesko stems from the prospect of losing Alexander Isak, for whom they’ve already rejected a Premier League record-breaking bid from Liverpool. Isak appears determined to leave, with Anfield as his destination of choice, and it’s widely believed the Magpies could open the door on that side if they sign a suitable replacement.
However, Manchester United have recently entered the race for Sesko as well, which obviously complicates matters further. The Red Devils are yet to submit an official offer for the 22-year-old, and Sesko himself hasn’t decided is he’d prefer a move to St. James’ Park, or Old Trafford.
