Kareem Abdul-Jabbar addresses LeBron James breaking his all-time scoring record, ‘I didn’t really…’

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the NBA’s all-time scoring record for 38 years.

However, on February 07, 2023, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James finally broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record.

Despite having a plethora of amazing accolades to his name, breaking Abdul-Jabbar’s record is considered one of James’ biggest achievements.

Abdul-Jabbar recently made an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where the legendary center made a plethora of revelations.

It includes his real feelings on James surpassing his 38-year-old NBA record.

“LeBron has earned it, he’s worked hard. I mean, more power to him. I didn’t really play to deal with records,” Abdul-Jabbar said.

He added: “I wanted to lead my team to the championship. I was fortunate enough to be on the winning team six times, and I was Finals MVP twice, and I’m satisfied with that.”

There’s no doubt that winning an NBA Championship is a phenomenal feat, which is why Abdul-Jabbar seemingly holds his six rings in higher regard than being the league’s all-time scoring leader.

Maintaining an average of 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game for 22 years seems like a Herculean task. But that’s what James has done as he gears up for Year 23 in the NBA.

Coming back to Kareem, the 6x NBA champ valued winning titles, but it hardly means that he doesn’t recognize what James has done over more than the last two decades.

“You can’t have everything for too long. Records were made to be broken, and more power to LeBron. I hope he enjoys it, does all that he wants to do with during his career and after his career.

“He’s had an incredible career. He does things, incredible things, off the court and on the court. Off the court, he sent a whole school district to college,” Abdul-Jabbar continued.

While James destroys opponents on the court, KAJ loves the 40-year-old’s kind actions off the court.

“And then on the court, he’s crushed everybody for 20 years now. So he deserves it and I hope he enjoys it,” Abdul-Jabbar concluded.
