Al-Hilal and Liverpool reach Nunez agreement

According to numerous credible sources, including the likes of David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is set to join Al-Hilal after the two clubs reached an agreement over the transfer.

Al-Hilal will pay a fixed fee of €53million for the services of the 26-year-old Uruguay international, with reasonably achievable add-ons devised to raise the amount to a total of €65million. The Saudi Pro League side are therefore set to win the race for Nunez ahead of AC Milan, who also expressed an interest. Napoli were mentioned as well, but the Serie A champions never appeared willing to meet Liverpool’s demands.

The player himself, however, is yet to give a green light to the move as the negotiations over personal terms between his camp and Al-Hilal continue.

Since his arrival from Benfica in 2022, Nunez has scored 40 goals and produced 26 assists in 143 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions. Despite his well-documented proneness to wasting clear-cut chances, he did make a significant contribution in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season, scoring several match-winning goals.
