Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is enjoying a MVP caliber season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been able to enjoy the development of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ever since he was traded away by the LA Clippers.
He is producing a career high 32.8 points per game right now, the best average numbers in the NBA this season, and he also has the highest points total (1,988).
Alex Caruso joined OKC in 2024 when he was traded from the Chicago Bulls, and he has been blown away by the consistent brilliance of his new teammate.
During an interview with Young Man And The Three, Alex Caruso was asked about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Caruso explained that SGA is a bigger competitor than he lets on, commenting: “He might not ever come out and say it publicly, but like the dude competes and he wants to compete every night, and he thinks it’s a blessing to be able to go out there and play basketball every night.”
He added that being able to witness the way Shai makes his astronomical numbers look easy, is what stands out the most.
“And so seeing him in person, and how effortless he makes it look, he’s one of those guys in the league where you look up at the end of the third quarter, it’s like, ‘oh ___. He’s got 32, seven, six, and three steals and a block.
“I thought he just was having an average game, like he was nothing crazy… It’s just routine.
“And that’s when you really get into like, the superstar category of, it looks easy, and you’re putting up crazy numbers. And it affects winning.”
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the number one seed in the Western Conference, but still may not be getting the respect their record really deserves.
The only way for them to put this right is to translate their regular season success into playoff success.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s reliability means he will play a huge role, he just needs every single one of his teammates to step up around him when it really matters.
