The Dallas Mavericks acquired Anthony Davis in a shocking trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Hardly anyone in the NBA expected the Dallas Mavericks to trade a superstar of Luka Doncic’s caliber. But it seems like the front office wanted to move on from Doncic.
They did so by trading for a much older yet talented superstar in Anthony Davis. Since joining the Mavs, AD has gone through injury troubles.
While the former No. 1 overall pick has devoted himself to the franchise, many believe that the Mavericks fans are yet to completely accept him. So what does that mean for his relationship with GM Nico Harrison?
Since the blockbuster trade, Harrison has faced the wrath of the media and fans alike. But what about his relationship with the star that he traded for?
Well, NBA insider Zach Lowe recently shared his two cents on the current relationship between Davis and Harrison.
“I don’t even think Klutch was mad about AD going to Dallas. AD and Nico Harrison have been close for a long time. I think that was sort of on their long-term radar anyway,” Lowe said on his podcast.
Lowe addressed the Davis trade as part of reporting the reason behind LeBron James potentially being unhappy with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Assuming what Lowe reported is true, it means that Davis has a solid relationship with Harrison, albeit being blindsided by the move to the Mavericks.
That raises the question of what’s next for the Unibrow? Well, for starters, he needs to get healthy, which Davis seems to be already taking care of.
Next, he needs to step up as a leader. After all, in Kyrie Irving’s absence, Davis has the opportunity to mentor Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Ultimately, Davis’ goal should be to lead the Mavs to an NBA Championship sooner rather than later, thus reminding fans about what a special talent he is when fit.
