Austin Reaves’ brother has brilliant three-word response after LA Lakers star’s tough love interview

Austin Reaves admitted his brother used an unconventional method to make him tough.

Finding hidden gems is always a great feeling for an NBA franchise. The Los Angeles Lakers found such a player during the 2021-22 NBA season.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Austin Reaves signed a two-way deal with the Lakers. He quickly made his mark and earned good minutes in the next season.

Fast forward to 2024, Reaves is the third scoring option for the team behind the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

A key factor behind Reaves’ immense popularity among fans is his toughness. AR15 constantly works extra hard during games and is seemingly never phased by physical defense.

It’s rare to see that in a 6’5″ shooting guard, who weighs under 210 lbs. However, Austin recently admitted his older brother, Spencer Reaves’, beatings when they were growing up helped him become a tenacious player.

“My brother used to beat the ____ out of me every day. Growing up as a little brother, you never win anything… But I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Reaves revealed.

Upon seeing Austin’s revelation go viral, Spencer had a three-word response on his role.

“Glad to help,” Spencer tweeted.

While Austin currently plays for the LA Lakers, Spencer is currently a member of the German club SYNTAINICS MBC. Similar to his younger brother, Spencer is a shooting guard as well.

As tough as the 26-year-old is, even he cannot avoid injuries. Reaves missed two weeks of action after suffering a left pelvic contusion in late November against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During Reaves’ absence, the Lakers struggled to win games and dropped multiple spots in the standings.

However, Reaves has returned and is slowly getting back into form. He contributed 19 points in the Lakers’ recent 116-110 win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

For the season, AR15 is averaging 16.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. Certainly not bad for a third option behind LBJ and AD.
