Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will face an unexpected challenger at UFC 315.

With Shavkat Rakhmonov injured, Muhammad will now make his first title defense against Jack Della Maddalena, who was pulled from his UFC Fight Night 255 headliner against Leon Edwards March 22 in London.
After Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) dethroned Edwards to become champion at UFC 304 in July, he was scheduled to defend his title against Rakhmonov at UFC 310, but was forced out due to a bone infection in his foot.
Della Maddalena (17-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) hasn’t competed since a come-from-behind knockout of Gilbert Burns at UFC 299 in April 2023. The 28-year-old Aussie is on a 17-fight winning streak.

According to DraftKings, welterweight champion Muhammad has opened up as a moderate -205 favorite against surging contender Della Maddalena, who’s listed as a +170 underdog.
