Bobby Marks addresses his Phoenix Suns for NBA Finals prediction, ‘I was the one…’

The Phoenix Suns are facing an uphill battle for the rest of the season, after a disappointing start.

The franchise entered the 2024-25 season with such high hopes and expectations. Following last year’s heartbreaking campaign, the Phoenix Suns set a title standard in their second season with the star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal while being under the new leadership of Mike Budenholzer.

Yet unfortunately, injuries and inconsistencies have served as massive obstacles for them in reaching their potential. There was tons of trade drama across the group from Jusuf Nurkic being sent packing situation and Beal being demoted into a bench role.

As such, Durant’s sudden inclusion in the league chatter sparked intrigue about what could be the future that awaits him and the Suns.

Heading into the All-Star break, the Suns are in a problematic spot as they occupy the 11th seed of the West with 26-28, in danger of failing to make it to the NBA Playoffs.

Reflecting on their current circumstances, Bobby Marks now fully regrets that he pledged his support for Phoenix at the start of the season.

The ESPN analyst stood as one of the key believers in the Suns before the campaign began, putting his full trust in the team to deliver a redemption year.

But now, Marks is giving up on the Suns, unconvinced their fortunes will change for the better after the All-Star break.

“They have the hardest schedule of all teams,” he said on First Take as the segment discussed several teams’ chances for the second half of the season. “I’m not drinking the Phoenix Suns kool-aid anymore.

“I was the one who predicted them going to the NBA Finals. I am not doing it any more.

“I am off the Suns bandwagon.”

Upon Marks’ interesting admission, fellow ESPN expert Kendrick Perkins didn’t also hold back expressing his dismay for the Suns.

Perkins, who recently had a heated banter with Durant over their past run in OKC Thunder, called Phoenix a “disaster.”

“They not playoff, they not ‘way offs’, they are a disaster. They are the second biggest disappointment after the 76ers,” Perkins exclaimed.

“When it comes down to have KD, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, this team has underachieved.”

The Suns still have 28 games on their table to save their season. What lies ahead of them is yet to be seen, but they’re certainly one of the teams to monitor heading to the league’s last leg approaching April.
