Bobby Marks didn’t mince his words when talking about the Miami Heat’s future when it comes to landing a superstar.
The Miami Heat‘s season is now over, as they lost Game 4 to the Cleveland Cavaliers. What has been 86-game-long nightmare for the Heat has now come to an end.
With the Jimmy Butler saga, not to mention their massive dip in the second half of the season, the Heat have had it rough all year.
Changes are coming soon. Bam Adebayo warned Heat players that Pat Riley would enact his post-Jimmy Butler era vision in the offseason.
Fans have grown frustrated with Riley for his lack of major moves. But can they land a superstar in the offseason?

Bobby Marks appeared on ESPN’s NBA Today to discuss the Miami Heat’s future plans. The former GM is bullish about their chances to land a superstar this summer.
When Danny Green mentioned the possibility of the Heat landing Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo, Marks poured water on those plans.
“I think either player is going to be a challenge, they are going to be at the back of the line with what they have available.”
“It’s very hard threading the needle, they’ve been a Play-In team the last couple of years, would they ever consider taking a step back, potentially taking the Oklahoma City approach, maybe you get a core player back and draft picks and going in that direction.”
“They are going to be where they are a year from now, if there are no changes here. It may have to be taking a step back instead of going star-chasing.”

Of course, Marks made these comments before Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs.
Antetokounmpo raised doubts about his future with the Bucks. Pat Riley would definitely have been watching his press conference with a smile on his face.
Could Riley try and make a move for Giannis, knowing that he is disgruntled in Milwaukee? Well, he would have to be willing to give up a lot of assets.
But there are a lot of questions being asked about the Miami Heat’s willingness to make big moves. And given that they are targeting a big free agent class in 2026, they might stay put and do nothing.
