Brentford want Kelleher while negotiating Flekken sale to Leverkusen

According to multiple sources, Bayer Leverkusen are currently in talks over signing Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and Brentford, in turn, are in talks with Liverpool over signing Caoimhin Kelleher to replace the 31-year-old Netherlands international.

What makes this story a complete merry-go-round are reliable reports claiming Liverpool are in the final stages of negotiations to sign Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen. With the Bundesliga side looking for a new goalkeeper and Kelleher wanting to leave Liverpool in search of regular game time, there were speculations about the 26-year-old Irish international potentially going the other way as a makeweight in the deal.

However, Erik ten Hag, recently appointed as the new Leverkusen head coach, obviously prefers the Brentford No. 1 to the man currently serving as a worthy backup for Alisson Becker at Liverpool.

Leverkusen are expected to pay between €10-14million for Flekken, while a fee for Kelleher to swap Anfield for the Community Stadium is yet to be decided.
