Brian Windhorst disagrees with potential LeBron James impact on LA Lakers star proposed by Kendrick Perkins

NBA analysts Brian Windhorst and Kendrick Perkins debate LeBron James’ potential impact on new LA Lakers signing.

The Los Angeles Lakers will finally get a chance to regroup following the crazy couple of weeks since the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline.

While the Lakers lost their final game before the All-Star break, there is no need to press the panic button as head coach JJ Redick is still figuring out new rotations after the addition of Luka Doncic and Alex Len to the roster.

Sure, Len was a make-shift addition to the roster post the failed Mark Williams trade, but the rookie head coach will have to play with the cards that are dealt.

Looking at the bigger picture, there are a plethora of positives for the LA Lakers heading into the All-Star break. They are the fifth seed in the Western Conference and are 8-2 in their last 10 games, despite the blowout defeat against the struggling Utah Jazz.

But the last couple of games have been somewhat concerning for the franchise. For starters, Doncic is yet to find his groove after his blockbuster trade to the Lakers. However, many believe Doncic will be back after he gets the mental break over the ASB.

On the other hand, the bigger point of concern for the Laker Nation was the lackluster debut of Alex Len. Just one game into his Lakers career, he has already received some brutal verdicts.

Len had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in 22 minutes of playing time. It wasn’t a good debut by any means, but fans and media alike are forgetting that he was unexpectedly required to play major minutes post-Jaxson Hayes’ facial contusion injury.

NBA analysts Kendrick Perkins and Brian Windhorst shared their takeaways from Len’s underwhelming season debut with the Lakers.

“You remember a guy by the name of Timofey Mozgov? Remember when he came to Cleveland? So my thing is LeBron James, he has a history of turning water into wine and bringing out the best of players.

“Before we all start judging and I’m talking about the fans of Alex Len, let’s see what LeBron James could do with him,” Perkins said.

Windy wasn’t convinced by Perk’s optimism and tried to refute his take.

“Oh, Perk. Timo Mozgov was a lot more accomplished player than Alex Len, no offense to anybody. They traded two first-round picks to get Timo Mozgov,” Windhorst stated.

Despite Windhorst’s refutal, Perkins wants Len to play more minutes with his teammates, including LeBron James.

To be honest, it is indeed too soon to write off Len’s fit within the Lakers. Let’s see how he performs after the All-Star break and then judge him.
