Brian Windhorst is stunned at the way the New York Knicks are playing against the Boston Celtics.
The New York Knicks are now up 2-0 over the Boston Celtics in their second-round series. It is a brilliant run for them that few could have expected.
The Knicks rallied back to win both games despite being down 20 points each time. Several Knicks stars praised the defense of Mikal Bridges in both games.
Paul Pierce had predicted an easy Celtics win, but it turns out he may have been wrong. Josh Hart has earned plaudits for the defense he played against the Celtics.
But there is something going on in this series that Brian Windhorst can’t believe. And he explained how the Celtics and Knicks are wildly different right now.

Brian Windhorst spoke on SportsCenter about the series between the Knicks and the Celtics. The legendary reporter questioned how the Celtics have wasted so many big leads.
In fact, Windhorst wondered how the Knicks are so confident during late stages of games despite being down. This is something Windhorst has never seen before.
“They [Celtics] don’t really understand, they can’t really put their finger on what happened. They’re a little bit shell-shocked because these leads have just melted away from them.”
“Down the stretch of this game, the Knicks were the most poised team. When I went to the Knicks locker-room, one of the things that they were talking about was just how comfortable they are in that position…”
“Normally, you would be the underdog and you’d be down on the road and you’d be panicking. It’s the inverse. I’m not sure it’s going to continue, but it’s a situation and a feeling I’ve not seen before.”

It goes without saying that the Boston Celtics need to win Game 3 at Madison Square Garden. If they lose and go down 3-0, it’s highly unlikely they’ll advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
History is not on the Celtics’ side, as the defending NBA champions haven’t gotten past the second round of the playoffs since 2019.
If the Celtics are knocked out, they will definitely be disappointed, given how much money they have spent on this roster.
And this would be the last time this roster is likely to play together, as their contracts and salaries will be too much to manage in the coming years for the franchise to keep them together.
