Brian Windhorst would easily give up Evan Mobley in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Cavaliers trade, makes Jayson Tatum point

Brian Windhorst believes the Cleveland Cavaliers should consider giving up Evan Mobley to land Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is seriously considering his options after the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the playoffs yet again.

After winning a championship in 2021, the Bucks and Giannis have never really come close to winning a title again.

Several suitors are beginning to emerge. The Spurs have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Giannis. On the other hand, the Warriors have a few conditions in order to land the Greek Freak.

The Houston Rockets have also emerged as interested buyers for Antetokounmpo. But what if a team in the East wanted to land him?

Well, Brian Windhorst believes one strong Eastern Conference side should give up a key asset to land the former MVP.

Brian Windhorst spoke on ESPN radio about a possible trade by the Cavaliers for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Windhorst believes that despite him winning DPOY this year, the Cavaliers should consider trading Evan Mobley. He also explained why it’s better for Giannis to move to a contender in the Eastern Conference.

“This is the first I’ve heard of it. If the Cavs have a chance to trade for Giannis, I would make that trade. But I would say this about Giannis. If I were Giannis, I would want to stay in the Eastern Conference.”

“Unfortunately, the reality is that if you’re a team like the Knicks or the Cavs, and you know about this Tatum injury, you now see a window. Because this Celtics team is not going to be at full power for a long time…”

“If you’re a team like the Cavs, as bad as their end was, they’re going into a situation next year where they know the Celtics may not be full strength for most, if not the full year. The world changed when Tatum had that injury.”

At the end of the day, Giannis Antetokounmpo is a superstar in the NBA, and he has a lot of autonomy and power over where he ends up.

As such, he should consider all his options and make the right decision. The goal is clear – Giannis wants to win more championships.

But does he care how he does it? Because staying in the East gives him an easier path. Whereas winning in the West would cement his legacy as an all-time great even further.

One cannot envy the position Giannis Antetokounmpo is in right now. But as a superstar, this is the road that he must take.
