Brian Windhorst’s prediction about Chris Paul’s NBA future falls flat, ‘I’m going to…’

Chris Paul’s recent comments about his future in the NBA contradicted ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst’s prediction.

San Antonio Spurs star Chris Paul is currently playing in the 20th season of his NBA career. While CP3 is no longer the star he once was, he remains a key veteran for the Spurs.

Considering he is averaging career-low numbers across the board, many have speculated if this is the final time fans will see the legendary point guard in action.

In fact, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst recently predicted that Paul could transition into a coaching role after the conclusion of his one-year, $10.4 million deal with the Spurs.

Even after spending 20 years in the league, Paul has yet to get his hands on the illustrious Larry O’Brien trophy. With the Spurs all but set to miss the postseason, could this be Paul’s last dance?

Windhorst seems to think that, stating: “He’s got all the options on the table. I think the Spurs would love to have him back. I think he could go sign with another team. I think he could go coach in the league next year.

He added: “I think he could be in the studio with us, if he wanted to be. But knowing Chris Paul he’s gonna want to be out on that court because he can still make an impact.”

CP3 is one of the most talented point guards to ever play in the NBA. But as a soon-to-be 40-year-old, Windy’s assessment of Paul isn’t that surprising.

Just hours after Windhorst questioned Paul’s future in the NBA, the veteran guard hinted at returning to the league next season.

In an interview with NBA insider Marc J. Spears, Paul said: “I’ll be 40 in May. So, yeah man, I’m going to keep playing, I think. At the end of every season, I evaluate everything. Evaluate playing. Evaluate how my body feels.”

“But the more years that go by, it’s more conversations with my family, with my kids. They have a lot of say so. They got a lot of input,” Paul concluded.

While Paul is averaging just 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game, the Spurs won’t really miss his presence on the court.

However, if he had decided to retire, what they would have missed is his leadership in helping Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox gel together as a dynamic duo.

On top of that, Paul’s durability this season has been missed by many as he has played all 76 possible games for the Spurs so far.
