Bronny James makes ‘under a lot of pressure’ comment when discussing first season playing with LeBron James

Bronny James spoke about his first season in the NBA and the emotions he felt playing with his father, LeBron James.

Bronny James was perhaps the most scrutinized second-round pick in NBA history. The second-generation star was the 54th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

But many felt that James wasn’t ready to play in the NBA, and was very much a nepotism pick maneuvered by his father, LeBron James.

However, Bronny proved that he could be a star, especially with his G-League performances. And in very few games, James matched a record from Michael Jordan’s rookie season.

JJ Redick spoke very highly about Bronny James’ first year with the Lakers and what he expects from him going forward. But how did Bronny feel about his first year?

In an interview with Fox Sports, Bronny James spoke about his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He admitted that playing with his father was a surreal experience.

Bronny played coy when talking about his father’s future. But he did admit to feeling some pressure during his rookie year, especially with the outside criticism about his role on the team.

“Yeah, for sure. However long he can come back for, it’s always a pleasure being around him. He’s locked in. The stuff he does for his body and the preparation and stuff like that, I want to take full advantage of it.”

Bronny played 27 games for the Lakers and put up a career-high 17 points against the Milwaukee Bucks. Hopefully, he gets more opportunities next season.

Bronny James also spoke about the pressure he was facing coming into the NBA. For Bronny, his best course of action was to dedicate himself to the gym and getting better.

“I was under a lot of pressure. It was getting to me a little bit… Working is a distraction from everything. I love just coming into the gym and working and talking to my coaches and watching film.”

“All of the stuff that can help me get better every day. It’s a distraction from all of that stuff. So, just going to continue to do that and see where it takes me. It’s going good so far.”

Bronny James, for everything that he had to deal with, handled all the negatives with grace and calmness not usually seen in players his age. Perhaps sitting under LeBron’s learning tree all his life prepared him for the NBA better than playing the sport ever could
