One Cleveland Cavaliers player showed potential similar to Anthony Davis, but he can evolve later in his career.
When the 2024-25 NBA season started, most expected the Boston Celtics to run things in the Eastern Conference.
However, as we get closer to the NBA Christmas week, it’s obvious that the Cleveland Cavaliers are legitimately a threat to the Celtics’ hopes of winning back-to-back NBA Championships.
While the entire Cavs roster is playing well, one player has truly taken a huge leap.
Danny Green has seen his fair share of title runs as he retired from the league as a 3x NBA champion. Prior to playing the final season of his NBA career, Green had a short stint with the Cavaliers.
During his time with the franchise, Green had a chance to see the Cavs’ core up close. With that said, the former NBA guard recently revealed which players Evan Mobley reminds him of.
“When he first came in I thought he had a potential to be like an AD, Anthony Davis. But he’s doing it a little differently now. He’s spreading the floor, shooting some 3’s, bringing the ball up,” Green said, via Scoop B.
Green added: “He can kind of now create his own lane because it’s too far of a stretch to call him Kevin Durant and him and Anthony Davis are a little bit different but he can kind of put himself in that same conversation as Anthony Davis.”
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is undoubtedly one of the most versatile big men in the league right now.
The 2020 NBA champion not only has the ability to feed off others in the paint but also create his own shot. Thanks to having a similar playing style, Mobley has transformed into a terrific player this season.

After Green’s initial answer, Scoop B reminded him that Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has compared Mobley to former NBA star Chris Bosh.
Upon hearing that, Green instantly connected the two dots and agreed with Kidd’s assessment of the Cavaliers star.
“Very much like him too. Very much like him as well. Chris Bosh is a VERY GOOD shooter. He has ways to become a Chris Bosh towards the end of his career,” Green continued.
“Bosh became a really good 3-pt shooter at the end of his career,” he concluded.
To succeed in the modern era, even big men are required to shoot well from beyond the three-point line. Bosh cracked that code during the final years of his NBA career with the Heat.
Green predicts Mobley has the potential to become a similar player. The Cavs star is shooting a career-high 40.0% from the three-point line while taking 2.3 attempts from distance per game.
