According to multiple sources, Chelsea are in advanced negotiations with the camp of Xavi Simons and they’re keen to reach an agreement as soon as possible, wishing to avoid any interference from other potential suitors before they initiate club-to-club talks with RB Leipzig.
For several months now, the future of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been uncertain. Numerous reports suggested he was keen to leave the Red Bull Arena and begin the next chapter of his career. Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus have all been credited with interest in his services at various points leading up to the opening of the summer transfer window, but the respective situations at those clubs appear to have developed in other directions.
Only Chelsea are taking concrete steps to sign the Netherlands international.
Simons initially joined Leipzig on an 18-month loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, which was made permanent in January this year. He has scored 21 goals and produced 23 assists in 76 matches across all competitions for the Bundesliga side.
