Minnesota Timberwolves head coach speaks about the star, who is now making a lot of ‘good decisions.’
Better late than never – this idiom is perfect for the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ performance this season as they get ready to play their final game of the season.
After all, the new roster is finally clicking after a shaky start to the season. That’s evident from the fact that the T-Wolves are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
While many things have gone right for the Timberwolves in the last couple of weeks, the biggest impact has been on star forward Julius Randle.
Randle has dropped 41 and 31 points in his last two games for the team, respectively. Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was asked about Randle’s form after the stunning 117-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Finch thinks while it’s great that Randle is playing well, the 30-year-old should have been doing this for the majority of the season.
“He probably should have been doing it more throughout the year at times. But he’s making a lot of really good decisions, whether it’s for himself or for his teammates. He’s been doing that for a long, long time.
“Now he’s really playing in a great groove offensively and defensively, and, you know, it just continues to make great plays or good plays, and he’s got the strength to get to a shot.”
Randle has shot a combined 10-of-16 from the three-point line in the last two games. This has been a welcome inclusion for Finch on the offensive end of the floor.
“It’s huge. I mean, he’s really taking a lot of good ones, too, balls finding him. Guys are finding him, and he’s in good space. He’s catching in a good rhythm. He’s not thinking about it.
“He’s not trying to jab or dribble or sometimes he would turn that down to try to maybe play with the dribble a little bit too much, but he’s really committed to the shot right now.”
Randle has really found his groove since the NBA All-Star break. He is shooting 52.5% from the field and a fabulous 41.1% from deep.
