D’Angelo Russell names Thunder and Kings stars as two most exciting League Pass players he likes watching

The NBA is packed with so many stars that choosing your favorite is an impossible task.

The US Olympic squad was led by names many now consider veterans, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry.

Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic is undoubtedly the most productive all-round player, while it has been Giannis Antetokounmpo and LaMelo Ball who have led the NBA in points this season.

None of those players were the two picked out by current LA Lakers star D’Angelo Russell as the players who he enjoys the most.

Speaking on The Backyard podcast, Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell was asked which players he enjoys watching the most.

He picked out Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox and Oklahoma City Thunder sensation Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Russell explained: “DeAaron Fox is on a tear right 1732877368. I think being a leftie, I’ve always appreciated his game, the way he gets it done at all levels. I always respected his game.

“Shai has took off where he left off last year, that’s cool for him. There’s a lot of talent around the league. League pass shows everything so you can keep up.”

He added that the Cleveland Cavaliers start has impressed him, with Kenny Atkinson’s coaching paying early dividends as they lead the Eastern Conference.

Russell also added: “I knew Detroit would turn it around, I’m feeling like Houston is going to surprise everybody too. They are well coached, hungry, young, I like them. The Spurs are right there too.”

D’Angelo Russell has been in the eye of the storm for the LA Lakers at times this season, dropped to the bench by JJ Redick, and accepting his new role.

Russell scored 16 points from the bench in the Lakers’ heavy loss to the Phoenix Suns, and still found himself subject of heavy criticism from Kendrick Perkins.

There is ongoing speculation the Lakers could look to trade Russell later before the February deadline, with it claimed he is being shopped around.

It could be interesting to see if Russell’s praise of any of these teams or players will be something we look back on next year, in case he ends up lining up alongside Fox for Sacramento, for instance.
