Darius Garland could not believe what he heard after Cavaliers loss to OKC, ‘hadn’t even got on the plane’

The second part of the Cleveland Cavaliers – Oklahoma City Thunder matchup didn’t live up enough to the expectations of many.

The first meeting between these two of the best teams in the league right now have drawn widespread acclaim. Channeling a balanced attack, the Cleveland Cavaliers drew first blood by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 129-122 in a tightly contested marquee matchup.

Yet after a week, the tables have turned for the Cavs as they got manhandled by the Thunder on their home floor. In their rematch, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powered OKC in overwhelming Cleveland via a 134-114 victory.

Their failure to go toe-to-toe that led them to endure an eventual horrible loss against the Thunder was a gut-wrenching experience for the Cavaliers. And apparently, it gave them an unnecessary outcome they never expected.

He and the Cavs were steadfast to regroup and bounce back from their huge defeat against the Thunder, but Darius Garland revealed in the Draymond Green Show that unwelcomed arguments and claims from the media have suddenly entered their circle.

“We watched some film, tried to figure out some things on the defensive end, tried to figure out how to stop Shai, which is pretty tough to do. It’s a 82-game season man, I [just] look forward to next game,” he said.

“Then, [the media] started talking about trade talks immediately after the loss, I’m like, we hadn’t even got on the plane, they talking about trades!”

For this wild story and out of his experience, Draymond Green offered a blunt response about the existence of trade talks for teams despite being at the top of the Association.

“Trade talks, that’s the world we live in, he said. “Get used to the top, I don’t see that changing, that’s what comes with it. Take it on the chin.”

Boasting a 36-6 record that sits atop the NBA leaderboard, it appears that the Cavaliers are pretty much comfortable in their current situation.

A trade could happen ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline, but any potential move could disturb their elite chemistry. The Cavs already look formidable from top to bottom as they have one of the deepest rosters in the league led by Kenny Atkinson.

Acknowledging their current standing, Expectations are certainly high for the Cavs. Once they win, they’ll be celebrated. And if they lose, speculations won’t hesitate to disturb them.

At the end of the day, they can only deal in all of these and strongly prevail by proving everyone that they are a cut above the rest.
