De’Aaron Fox ignites Sacramento Kings war of words with ‘yeah it’s my fault’ blast

De’Aaron Fox is embarking on brand-new beginnings as a member of the San Antonio Spurs – but is still trying to move on emotionally from Sacramento.

The All-Star guard was made available for a trade by the Sacramento Kings after hesitancy to extend his contract, and De’Aaron Fox saw his wish finally getting fulfilled by teaming up with Victor Wembanyama.

While he is now savoring the most out of his new endeavors as a Spur, highlighted by his spectacular debut, it seems that Fox still has some stories to offer about the unexpected end that he had with the Kings.

In a viral post on X, De’Aaron Fox created noise in what looked like a swipe towards the Kings franchise.

Fox blasted in a now deleted post on X: “Everybody has the same story about the dysfunction but yeah it’s my fault.”

This post by Fox also came under the heels of the All-Star’s cryptic social media interaction with Kings reporter Damien Barling. But both sides appeared to have cooled down already.

While former teammate Malik Monk said he had not spoken to Fox since his exit.

Fox and the Kings generated a lot of noise all season long until they finally broke up ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.

In the offseason, it was reported that Fox turned down a lucrative max extension offer from the Kings. And in a podcast appearance, he explained his reasons on why he didn’t recommit with the franchise which accelerated the start of discussions about his future within the team.

And in the wake of the controversial head coaching dismissal by the Kings towards Mike Brown, Fox was identified by many as the potential reason of this decision, which he vehemently denied.

To be fair, Fox didn’t enjoy much collective success and winning throughout his 7 and a half seasons of stay as the Kings’ franchise star — only reaching the NBA Playoffs once in 2023.

But in the end, what he must now do is put the past behind and enjoy the upcoming ride that he will have wearing a Spurs uniform.
