Dillon Brooks says Jalen Green now has perfect teammate to help him succeed where he struggled

Jalen Green was one of the main players on the Houston Rockets’ roster that finished second in the Western Conference last season.

He averaged 21 points per game and led the team in scoring after playing all 82 regular season games.

However, Jalen Green did not have a great playoff performance against the Golden State Warriors.

The seven game series highlighted a few of his offensive problems, although his teammate Fred VanVleet came in support of him.

Almost two months later, Green was involved in the trade that saw Kevin Durant move to the Houston Rockets, while he and Dillon Brooks went to the Phoenix Suns.

Many have tipped the Houston Rockets to be the favorites to win the title after acquiring Durant.

But the move is also expected to unlock new levels in Green’s game, according to Brooks.

Green has already expressed excitement about playing alongside Devin Booker, who just recently signed a two-year $145 million deal with the Suns.

Brooks, who is also going to be on the Suns roster, revealed that the young player can learn from Booker, including dealing with double teams.

The duo was seen watching the Summer League game which saw their new team Suns face off against the Washington Wizards.

Speaking about Green, Brooks said: “I feel like in the playoffs he struggled a little bit against Golden State. How to approach different defensive coverages and double teams and different things the teams can throw at you and I feel like Book can help him with that.

“He’s seen everything and just learn and be able to be a sponge and grow. Having guys like that on your team motivate you to be better.”

The Suns have had a busy offseason and still have to make a decision on Bradley Beal.

According to multiple reports, the three-time All-Star could be either waived or leave the Suns after a contract buyout.

This means the Suns will have to rely on Green and Booker for offensive firepower.

Both of them can score at a high level, but for Green, efficiency has been a problem.

The 23-year-old has never shot over 43% from the field in his career, but that was mostly because the Rockets never really had another reliable scorer.

Green had to take the most shots on the team, but his move to Phoenix means that he will have Booker to help him out offensively.

Season Jalen Green points Devin Booker points
2024-25 21 25.6
2023-24 19.6 27.1
2022-23 22.1 27.8

The 28-year-old is known to be one of the best scoring guards, and will certainly be the focus when the Suns take the court.

Last season Booker had to do a lot of things as a point guard and this made it difficult for him to focus on scoring.

The Suns could certainly use a few more additions to their backcourt, but their combination of Booker and Green will be interesting to watch.

Green will be going to Phoenix with a point to prove, while Booker now has the responsibility of being the face of a franchise.
