Donovan Mitchell hails Cavaliers’ Swiss Army Knife who is ‘the ultimate confidence guy’ for their team

Donovan Mitchell was thoroughly impressed with the way one Cavaliers star played in Game 1 against the Heat.

The Cleveland Cavaliers made light work of the Miami Heat in Game 1 of their first-round series. While the Heat played well, the Cavaliers were just on another level.

Unsurprisingly, it was Donovan Mitchell who led the team in scoring with 30 points. Tristan Thompson may have been right when comparing Spida to LeBron James.

Darius Garland was right there with Mitchell to score 27 points in the win. The Cavaliers showed why there were the best team in the Eastern Conference this season.

But there was one star who came off the bench to deliver an incredible performance. Donovan Mitchell also gave him high praise after the game.

Speaking after the Cleveland Cavaliers’ win over the Miami Heat, Donovan Mitchell was all smiles. But one teammate in particular had him grinning ear to ear.

Ty Jerome had a brilliant performance, coming off the bench to score 28 points in the big win. Donovan hailed Jerome as a ‘confidence guy’ who steps up when needed.

“That’s who Ty is, the ultimate confidence guy. That’s what makes us special. It can be anybody any night.”

Jerome has been massively important for the Cavaliers this season, especially as he comes off the bench to provide them with much-needed scoring.

This win over the Miami Heat has to be impressive. Yes, the Heat are far from the playoff force they used to be. But the Cavaliers still handled them with ease.

The Heat still has two talented All-Star-level players in Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, and a brilliant head coach in Erik Spoelstra.

So, for Kenny Atkinson to coach his team to win over a Heat squad that can cause nightmares is a big thing. The hope is they do this at least three more times in this series to get the win.

The big test will come presumably in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, as they will likely face the Boston Celtics with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.
