Donte DiVincenzo has heaped praise on his Minnesota Timberwolves teammate, stating he could fit into any line-up and will be crucial for the team in playoffs.
DiVincenzo joined the Timberwolves as part of the trade that saw Karl-Anthony Towns move to the New York Knicks.
He has averaged just over 11 PPG and shot 39.5% from three point range, with improved performances in his last ten games.
The Timberwolves have been in fine form since the All-Star break, they managed to go on an eight winning streak, including a comfortable one against Denver Nuggets.
Donte DiVincenzo recently appeared on “The Young Man and the Three” podcast where he spoke about his time with the T-Wolves and also heaped praise on Mike Conley and the impact he has had on the team.
Mike Conley is one of the most pure point-guards in the current NBA and despite playing in Year 18, his playmaking is still among the best in the league.
The 37-year-old is key to the T-Wolves’ offense as he is shooting the ball at a highly efficient 41.9% from three-point range.
Speaking about his impact on the team, DiVincenzo said: “Is he Memphis Mike any more, probably not. He is a great player, I mean, a great person.
“So it’s like when you’re getting both, and you don’t have to deal with anything outside, there’s no nonsense or nothing, and you love being around them.
The former Villanova player also stated Conley bought calmness into the line-up.
“He settles everybody down, like, yeah, no matter what line-up we throw out there, if you put Mike out there, everything’s like, alright, we have a sense of like, calmness out here.
“It’s just like there’s nothing he hasn’t seen, he’s seen everything. He’s done everything. And also, he doesn’t need to necessarily prove anything.
Individually, like he is what he is and he’s been what he is like, so he’s like ‘alright, what does the game need?’ and he just reads it perfectly,” added DiVincenzo.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently sitting eight in the Western Conference with just 11 more games to play.
Led by Anthony Edwards, the team have had a disappointing season after going to the Western Conference Finals last year, but they could still revive their campaign.
Edwards has showed out in recent games and so has Julius Randle, but the team will also need DiVincenzo to step up if they are to end the season racking more wins.
They are in the middle of a race to finish top six in the West with teams like Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers just ahead of them.
DiVincenzo is an elite shooter and has proven himself in big-game situations before.
With the likes of Edwards and Randle, DiVincenzo is likely to get some looks when the games get tough.
The 28-year-old is also a terrific defender and can contain the opposition team’s best player when needed.
With the regular season getting close to an end, the T-Wolves will need the best from DiVincenzo on both ends as anything short of that could lead to them having to compete in the tricky play-in competition.
