Draymond Green taunts Houston Rockets, ‘I love our chances’ ahead of potential playoff match-up

Draymond Green did not hold back when giving his thoughts on how a potential Warriors-Rockets match-up would play out.

The Golden State Warriors lost to the Houston Rockets on Sunday night in a disappointing performance. For a team that had been playing so well, their outing on the night was quite shocking.

Stephen Curry had Warriors fans believing he could win a fifth ring. But after Curry’s abysmal three points against the Rockets, their hopes came crashing down.

Jimmy Butler was shocked at how referees habitually ignored Stephen Curry when it came to earning foul calls. But there was another player who garnered some controversy on the night.

Draymond Green got a technical foul after an incident with Alperen Sengun. It looks like Green is fired up after that moment, issuing a bold proclamation on his podcast.

Speaking on his podcast, Draymond Green was his same boisterous self. He explained how the game against the Nuggets exhausted them after a grueling schedule.

The Rockets were able to capitalize on their fatigue. But Green didn’t take anything away from them, giving their players credit. Green eagerly anticipated a potential playoff series against the Rockets.

“We just didn’t have enough in the tank. The Denver game was really a scheduled loss. Denver sitting in San Francisco, waiting for us to get back. We get back after a two-week trip… We dug deep, and we found a way to get that game. I think all of that eventually caught us [vs Rockets].

“First quarter, I could barely get up the court my legs were so dead. We got back to offense, I was just standing there watching… so I could be back here on defense.”

“Nonetheless, you got to give them some credit. They made some big shots. Jalen Green had a really good game. Dillon Brooks played well.”

“Amen Thompson – I’ve been a fan of him, he’s so athletic and he’s just getting more and more confident, he’s starting to see more pictures develop. He’s really the key to that team.”

“If this is a team we see in the playoffs, I like the match-up. We got experience in the playoffs. I love our chances if we see this team in the playoffs, but they do play us tough.”

While Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the best player on the Warriors, Draymond Green is the most important player on the team.

Chris Mullin recently praised Draymond for taking his defensive performances up a notch. And Green’s defense is the platform that Curry and Jimmy Butler need for their offensive outbursts.

This is why his technical foul against Alperen Sengun was concerning. Green has always struggled with discipline, and it has impacted the Warriors.

Steve Kerr rightfully credited Draymond’s role in their four NBA championship wins. But they could have had five had Green not gotten himself suspended for Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

They cannot afford Green resorting to his usual shenanigans in the playoffs, as it would significantly weaken their team, and by extension, their chances of winning a title.
